Book Launch for Hells Belles

Updated: Jul 4

Hells Belles was released on June 30, 2022, and first and foremost, I want to thank every single person who helped make this such a success. I couldn't have done it without you and I am forever grateful.

The purpose of this blog post is to break down the strategy I used for this release. Please keep in mind I'm simply explaining what I did and the results. I'm still learning but also when I find something I deem successful, I want to share it with my fellow indies.

Why Thursday? I chose my release day as Thursday for two reasons. Trad publications are often released on Tuesdays so I didn't want to get buried in all of that. Also, Thursdays are the beginning of the weekend for a lot of people so I wanted the cover in their sights as something they may want to pick up for their weekend. Also, I ran my preorder's for 6 weeks, priced at .99 and it stayed at .99 until the 5-day FREE sale for the rest of the trilogy was over.

Even though Hells Belles wasn't released until Thursday, I set Hardpressed (book 1) and Home Bye Christmas ( short story 1.5) to FREE for 5 days. I did this to encourage readers to snatch them up quickly so they would be ready to dive into book 2 as soon as it was released. With Hells Belles being set at just .99 that meant readers could get 2 full-length novels AND a short story for under a buck. I should note here that this particular strategy was more about me gaining readership and visibility than royalties. Below is the daily numbers breakdown which includes ALL THREE STORIES. Also, note that all three are available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited.

WED. - 51 copies sold/downloaded free/ 0 KU pages read

THUR. - 40 copies sold/downloaded free/ 792 KU pages read

FRI. - 34 copies sold/downloaded free/ 549 KU pages read

SAT. - 41 copies sold/downloaded free/ 280 KU pages read

SUN. - 31 copies sold/ downloaded free/ 1469 KU pages read

TOTALS

197 copies sold/downloaded

3090 KU pages read

So that's how I went about my launch. I hope you find this information helpful and best of luck on YOUR next launch! Until next time...

It's that time of year! It's time to declutter, reorganize and simply start fresh. While it can be a bit nerve-wracking, it's still exciting. For me, author-wise, I have a new "To Do" list, one that s
